Auxiliary Division

“We, the members of the Auxiliary of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company, now unite as a body to assist the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company in any manner possible.”

Welcome to the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary's home on the internet. My name is Susan Eyre Auxiliary President for 2009.  I am proud to say I am one of 33 men and woman who make up the BAVFC Auxiliary. We volunteer at one of the busiest volunteer fire companies in Harford County. The Auxiliary's primary purpose is to support our company in "any manner possible."

Our new Officer positions for 2009 are:

President - Susan Eyre

Vice President - Jessica Norstrand

Secretary - Danielle Eyre

Treasurer - Lin Kadolph

Chaplain - Anne Phillips

Historian - Laura Crocker

Currently, the Auxiliary's primary function is to staff  "Support Unit U-388". This unit primarily supports the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Co, and on occasion, other fire companies in Harford County. It allows us to provide the necessary tools to keep Fire and EMS personnel hydrated and fueled during extended emergency calls. This function alone requires 24 hours a day, 7 days a week availability of those Auxiliary members who are able to answer the call at that critical time.

On January 8, 2009, the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, proudly placed in service U-388.  This unit was designed by the "371" Committee, custom built by Krammes  Kustom Body Company, and was placed on a 2006 International 4100 diesel chassis purchased from Hickory International.   The unit is self sustaining  and has seating for 5 personnel.  It  is equipped with an 8KW diesel powered generator which supports a refrigerator, freezer, microwave,  interior lights and outlets.  The unit also features a 25 gallon water tank, hot/cold running water, a gas griddle, 2 burner stove and an abundance of exterior storage compartments to carry additional beverages and supplies.  It  also has been designed with a convenient sliding serving window and an exterior compartment which houses a self serve dispenser for hot/cold beverages.  This unit can also provide shelter if needed by using a heavy duty retractable awning.

As Chair person of this committee, I would like to thank the following committee members for their dedication to this project: Sharon and Joe Price, Linda Kadolph, Johnny Eid, Rick Ensor, Ray Belcher, Charlie Walls, past Board of Directors, and Past Chief Eyre. This was a very long and tedious project and could not have been done without them.  I would also like to extend that appreciation to the support from the membership.

Auxiliary members who respond to the fire house may be asked to prepare meals for Fire and EMS personnel; so that when they return from calls they are fed breakfast, lunch or dinner; whichever is appropriate.

Not everyone in the Auxiliary is required to respond to the fire scene.  We have members who assist our business office with computer data entry, ambulance club billing, volunteer on various committees, and prepare meals for various Fire and EMS dinner meetings.

We welcome you to our family. Please complete an online application to start your journey.

Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.
