Building Fire/Webster’s Forest Farm in Calvary/3 buildings burned – 1 fatality/one of the structures was built in early 1700’s/had burned to ground before anyone even saw the fire

8th

Dwelling Fire/Smith House in Creswell/house totaled along with the chickenhouse

20th

Dwelling Fire/Munnickhuysen’s just outside Town/3-story dwelling well-involved on arrival

22nd

Dwelling Fire/Conly House in Fallston/3 children dies in fire/mother had walked to springhouse and looked back and saw fire

MARCH

Building Fire/Wildason’s Garage in Town/quick knock of fire

21st

Building Fire/Willikee’s Barbershop in Forest Hill/also used as a residence/owner killed in the fire

28th

Dwelling Fire/Bond St near Alice Anne St/room of contents fire/good stop

APRIL

2nd

Dwelling Fire/Walker House on Port Deposit Ave (now Rt.22 by current firehouse)/2nd floor fire/held to 2nd floor

NOTE: During this week, the Fire Company had a meeting to decide to buy a 2nd fire truck. This truck would be designed to allow unit to respond to areas much further away from in-town. Current unit would remain an in-town truck because it did not have enough power to make long runs or up hills.

12th

Building Fire/Robinson’s Rockland Farm/small out-building quickly extinguished

25th

Woods Fire/Joppa area/2,800 acres of farm and woods burned/started from passing train on B&O Railroad/farmers, B&O workers, Edgewood soldiers assisted in extinguishment/2 soldiers burned badly/houses & sheds burned also

1st

Building Fire/Korner Konfectionary in-town/basement fire/good knock

JUNE

26th

Dwelling Fire/Archer House in Benson/citizens knocked fire prior to FD arrival

JULY

17th

Building Fire/Smithson Farm in Forest Hill/70x100ft barn well involved/animals & harvest lost/house saved

28th

Dwelling Fire/McComas House near Town/basement fire/good stop

AUGUST

15th

Dwelling Fire/Worthington House on Conowingo Rd/built in 1886 – very large home/many sections of hose broke allowing fire to spread/this fire appears to be one of the reasons the Fire Company reorganizes – lack of proper ff equipment/NOTE: Susquehanna Hose Company lends the BAVFC 800ft of hose after this fire

31st

Fire Company agrees to buy a new fire truck for $8,500 (2nd truck)

SEPTEMBER

3rd

Building Fire/Country Club Inn/alerted for this building on fire but ended up being the chicken house to rear on fire
