
BAVFC Hiring Office Manager
The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company (BAVFC) is a fulltime volunteer fire and combined service EMS company serving over 100,000 citizens located in Bel Air; Harford County, Maryland. We are seeking an individual for an advanced administrative support position providing office management services to the organization. This office manager is accountable for the overall management, performance and development of the business office. The primary accountabilities are the management functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling. The incumbent must be able to multi-task and function with little to no supervision. Experience in fire service business office management is preferred. Software knowledge of all Microsoft office suite products and Sage is preferred.
Work includes responsibility or supervision of lower level clerical staff and direct delivery of personal support to the Fire Chief and/or President of the company or their designee. Incumbent must have extensive interpersonal skills to interface with a variety of individuals and organizations such as company line officers, board members, volunteers and career EMS employees, employees of other municipalities or agencies, other volunteer fire/EMS organizations, and personnel from county and town government. The incumbent exchanges information and facilitates services in conjunction with BAVFC programs and must be independent oriented and carry out plans or delegate tasks in support of the work effort of the BAVFC.
The successful applicant will participate in performance plans and appraisals of employee/s review work of staff and ensure adherence to policy and procedure. The incumbent will develop and implement committee and company budget in coordination with Fire Chief and Board of Directors’. They will monitor and review budget to determine annual spending tends, fiscal year financial operations including cost analyses for new/replacement equipment. Reviews fiscal impact on applicable legislation, policies and procedures, researches prepares reports and analyses data on a variety of organizational topics. Prepares substantive correspondence from applicable and assigned organizational meetings. Work environment is the normal office setting. Work is sedentary in nature with intermittent periods of standing, walking, light lifting and some bending.
