Early Morning Townhouse Fire
The BAVFC, along with assistance from Fallston, Joppa Magnolia and Abingdon volunteers, were dispatched to the 600blk of South Atwood Rd just after 0134hrs for a reported townhouse on fire. Crews arrived in 4 min of dispatch and placed the fire under control 10 min later. One adult and two children were displaced and are being helped by Red Cross. There were no injuries. As a result of the incident, damage is estimated at $40,000.
The cause was determined to be from unattended cooking. A working smoke alarm is credited with awakening the adult occupant allowing her to escape safely with her two children. RG
